Single best answer

A 51-year-old woman attends her GP for routine follow-up. She was diagnosed with iron deficiency anaemia six weeks ago and started on ferrous sulphate 200 mg once daily. She has taken it consistently and tolerated it reasonably well, though her stools have been darker than usual. A repeat full blood count today shows her haemoglobin back within the normal range. She asks whether she can now stop the tablets.

  1. AStop ferrous sulphate now, as the haemoglobin is within the normal range
  2. BSwitch to parenteral iron now that the haemoglobin has normalised
  3. CReduce to alternate days for two weeks, then stop
  4. DContinue ferrous sulphate at the same dose for a further three months

Why MedQuiz is different

1

Mapped to your school

Organised around your medical school's own modules, not a generic syllabus.

2

Built by students

Made with medical students' own notes and resources, by people sitting the same exams.

3

Doctor-reviewed question banks (coming)

Every question bank will be checked and signed off by a doctor before any student sees it.
